Rocky is an 8 year old male, neutered, mixed breed dog. He weighs about 27 lbs. Rocky is a low-medium energy dog who loves to play fetch, cuddle on the couch, and take walks around the neighborhood. He can do a few tricks if you give him a treat. Rocky prefers to be the only animal of the house, and would do best with a family with no children or children over 10 years old. He could also be placed in a home with a very mellow dog, but no cats. Overall Rocky is a sweet and loving dog, but has tendencies of claiming (owner possession and jealousy) which started out with claiming items and space, and then owners. Though his current family loves him dearly, it is no longer an ideal situation for him since they have a new baby and Rocky is very jealous. Due to the claiming issues, there are some things that we would recommend so that the issues can be corrected the right way. Rocky will need time to adjust to a new family, so keep in mind that that it may take a month or so for Rocky to come around, since he's been with the same family for 8 years. We would like the adoptive family to go through a two hour consultation with our trainer so we can help guide how to successfully integrate him into his new home. Once Rocky has decompressed and adjusted to his new environment, it should be followed up with 4 training sessions, once a week, to correct the claiming/possession, and provide exposure to other dogs on a regular basis, so that his reactiveness to other dogs will subside. We also recommend that Rocky be placed into a home where one person is home the majority of the time to help him acclimate and to avoid the development of separation anxiety, which can happen due to his age and losing the home he grew up in. Characteristics: Cuddly, happy, cute
