About Phaedra

Phaedra is in need of a new home. We adopted her 4 years ago as a husky, but as time has gone on, the more I have learned about northern breeds, I believe that she is at least part malamute. Phaedra is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Records may prove challenging as we and our vet are survivors of the Camp Fire. Phaedra is WONDERFUL with humans, both large and small, and dogs, both large and small. She is NOT GOOD with cats, or chickens, and it could be assumed that she would also be not good with other small pets such as rabbits or guinea pigs. She has some unique feeding behavior. She gets very enthusiastic about meal time. This may be a medical issue, but we have not been able to afford medical testing to explore this. She maintains healthy weight with large portions of grain free food. I love this dog. I am not seeking alternate placement for her lightly. There is just too much anxiety in our house worrying about a child accidentally letting a cat out. We have lost 3 cats in the last 2 months. There is no question how they were harmed. I understand the northern breed prey drive, and now that she has done this, we know it will not stop. We are all terrified it will happen again, and we are unwilling to give up the cats to keep a dog that half of my family now has animosity toward. She has been shunned from the house, and I believe this is beginning to affect her emotionally and mentally. We have been trying to find placement for over 2 months now, and the option of putting her down has been brought up. I am not OK with this option, and I am desperate to find her something.
