About Cassie

Adoption Fee: $300
Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Hello. I have recently rescued a 1.5 yr old Staffordshire bull terrier. She was kept in an outdoor kennel with another dog of the same breed for most of her life as her owner worked in Wyoming and only returned for a weekend every 2 weeks being fed and watered once a day. I know only what her previous told me. She needs to be spayed. Cassie is a very sweet girl who loves to shower affection on her family. She is very well behaved and does not pull on the lease at all. She is very smart and listens well. She has been wonderful with children. When I rescued Cassie from that situation I noticed right away she was very timid. She would crouch her head down everytime she was pet and was very disoriented in my home not wanting to go down stairs and being very bossy trying to establish domination over my other dog. As Cassie adjusted to our new home she really attached herself to me. Following me EVERYWHERE and not wanting to be seperated at all. And I noticed she did not seem to like guys at all. I noticed other behavior that made me wonder if she could see. I took her to East LAurel Vets where I had her eyes examined. Although this was not an official diagnosis the vet confirmed that she most likely had a rare genetic eye disease where the retina detaches from the eye. Most dogs are fully blind within 6 months of signs of vision loss. Cassie is coping the best she can with her condition but is very uncertain of around new people. She need to be reassured that she is not alone and comforted while she learns to adjust. I am trying to seek any advise on how to find Cassie a forever home where she can all of her needs met. It would be so wonderful if she could get an actual diagnoses from a specialist and the care that she deserves. I do not want to see her euthanized or adopted by someone who is not going to cater to her disability. Thank you for taking the time to read this. I look forward to your reply.
