MEET DOC HOLIDAY. I do not always have time to answer all the emails, the standards come first, always. So give me up to 5 days. When you give false names & numbers, why? Doc is a young male who was just neutered. He loves to be around other dogs, plays with the other rescues and pack, loves to ride, run, and is still learning to be a normal companion. He has discovered toys and treats, so is always trying to please. Doc needs other STANDARD POODLES to play with and continue LEARNING From. Since he has been here, he has gained a little over 14 pounds, never had a good food before, loves to eat now. ( grain free) Doc had to learn to be a house dog and wait for things, like going outside, opening doors, and he had ONLY ONE food dish, not all the food dishes were his to eat from. THIS IS AN INSIDE ONLY COMPANION. MUST HAVE A FENCED IN YARD. NO BREEDERS NEED APPLY TO THIS SITE. DOC IS ALTERED. E-MAIL ME FOR APPLICATION. READ HIS PROFILE FIRST. PLEASE KNOW , I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU HAVE, I DO NOT HAVE TO LIKE YOU, MY POODLES DO HAVE TO LIKE YOU. THE PACK ARE VERY WISE JUDGES. I CHECK. I LOVE THESE BABIES Doc is not aggressive and is very loving.** Standard poodle experience preferred.** When he got here, he was very shy but that changed quickly. Doc now thinks it is his job to protect me ( blocks every door so he has to move so I can get through). He can give some goofy looks. Due to his living outdoors, plus he was often hit with a fly swatter on his back legs, he WAS on meds for the skin there . Doc has come such a very long ways, is so loving, likes to lay his head on my lap, and loves to be petted and brushed. Doc has beautiful beige, golden, tight curly hair. ** His last vet visit 12/15/19- He weighed around 54 pounds. the vet was amazed at how good he looks . He also told me, he sure isn't that shy, afraid dog I first saw, is he?---**** You MUST have a fence. There are HOME checks. I do contact every reference, vet, groomer, etc. He CAN NOT be left alone for more than a few hours, 3/4. ** NO young children, no small elderly dog- no breeders,. Doc is still a puppy and the big dogs play rough with each other. He has had to LEARN what NO means. I had to re-learn what a counter surfer was like ( he is leaving things alone now- thank goodness). Doc does well on a leash but I have land which is safely fenced with lots of space to run. ****** YOU MUST e-mail me through Rescueme for the applications. I do not call or Text until the first application has been filled out. The dogs come first and rescue is a 24/7 deal. I will update info and I never leave a rescue posted that has found a home. I never rush an adoption. I believe there is right home for each rescue and each standard poodle ( all dogs) are different, just like humans. So far, I don't think Doc has had a BAD day since he has been here and is just a great boy. Doc needs someone to continue training him, would do better in a home with at least one other standard poodle, land to play on, standard poodle experience, and as always, the RESCUES chose who they want, if the pack doesn't like you then the others won't either.********. The rescues are altered when they are old enough. Altering too soon can cause them to dribble & have other issues. All the poodles have their OWN elevated feeding dish but share large elevated water dishes. I also place stainless steel buckets outdoors ( in the shade), they are washed and filled several times a day. Doc came from show dogs and has a wonderful stance, will very proudly stand and show off. The nursing home patients love him. They all go in stores, clinics, assisted living, some go to the hospital, many go on to be therapy dogs or service dogs. I can usually train them for most things if they have that personality. After he fills out, based on his parents line, he should weigh around 60-65 pounds. He loves to play & has a very calm manner. he is a great standard, a fast learner, he does like to hunt squirrels, chipmunks, will chase the wild turkey, big black birds, & the unlucky skinny rabbits that manage to escape losing most of their fur....LOL He was in such a horrible condition and changed so fast once he had about 10 baths and was groomed. Plus he was on a cheap food with corn as the 1st ingredients & fed whatever else. He loves it when he gets salt water fish added to his diet, egg whites, fruits and veggies safe for dogs, turkey, etc. He is on a grain free diet, is heartworm free, takes a heartworm preventative, & just want to be loved. I LOVE OUR MILITARY AND HAVE MANY REPEAT ADOPTERS WITH 2 OR MORE STANDARDS. I can not say enough about what a great boy he is becoming. Like all dogs, he wants a human to LOVE him. He does not shed & if you wipe him off at night, very little dander is shed. Thank you for reading his info, HOPE IT STOPS HUAMNS FROM ASKING WHAT I WROTE. lol. if YOU TAKE THE TIME TO READ IT. HE IS A HEART STEALER.
