NEWYORKIE is friendly and happy. She jumps in circles when you're serving her food. She loves human companionship and LOVES to lay in your lap or warmly snuggle on the arm of the armchair while you're reading/tv, etc. She's great with dogs and cats. Her age may be senior, but she is quite lively, busy, and happy :-) We just did a full dental and we had to pull some teeth, but this healed now and she's eating a combo of wet and dry food (and any fresh meats you care to treat her with ;-). Her eyes are a bit cloudy looking from the outside, however it does not seem to affect her vision - she walks/runs around things just fine, doesn't bump into anything so the vet is not concerned. Her hearing is terrific! She has a cyst on her underside - it's filled with fluid, but is not painful. The vet feels that a surgery to remove it would be too difficult and long for a senior dog and since it doesn't bother her, just let her be happy and live out her retirement as is, joyfully! She was just groomed and everyone fell in love with her - she liked sitting in people's laps :-) Our process is to contact us via email [email protected] (please do not call). We have an online application, we have a meeting at your home with your family members including current pets. (Yes we bring the pet to you!) Yes there is an adoption fee. We like to stay in touch after the trial adoption - we love updates! We primarily adopt locally to the Santa Fe, central ABQ, Rio Rancho and Los Alamos areas of New Mexico.
