Hi, I'm Kohler, and I made my foster mom name me after the toilet I spend the first month at her house hiding behind because well, my life has been crappy and I like metaphors. My brother Wilbur and I came together from a rural, high-kill shelter after our owner very suddenly and tragically passed away. We were so scared of people that we were nearly euthanized (most people won't adopt scared dogs). We received one miracle being pulled by Augusta Dog Adoptions and now we are holding out for another one-being adopted together. See, we are both still fearful and we need each other to be brave. I am a one-year-old mixed breed dog and I weigh around 25 pounds. I am confident on leash and housebroken in my foster home with a solid routine. Wilbur and I both struggle a bit with fear of people we don't know, but once we bond to our new family, the playful and exuberant side comes out. A securely fenced yard and a quiet household is a must. We also need a house without young, energetic, loud children-- it's not that we don't like them, it's just that they are a little much. My brother and I are both dog friendly and would thrive in a home with other dogs. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
