About Poseidon

Sometimes it is really hard to post an animal for adoption when you know so much more than you can tell without being told we are being too hard or mean to the prior owner. Poseidon is under a year (DOB 2/13/19). He is a French Mastif/Boxer mix. He has been under fed severely, came in pooping tons of papertowel, has mange, has been either kicked or hit and ribs hurt like hell and he does react negatively when you touch them. Has lived his entire existence in a freaking crate. In addition to all of that he is still intact and has never had shots. Why oh why do people get animals and treat them this way? Our heart breaks for this beautiful baby. He doesn't trust people - but who can blame him? Would you trust someone who truly acted like they hated you (which was the impression given when he got brought here)? We were told he will bite when you 'mess with his food bowl' - that is pretty typical for a starving dog so we didn't put a lot of stock into that when he was surrendered. He is BY FAR better off here with us than he has been for the past 6 months of his life. Needless to say - he is not housebroken. We will have him thoroughly examined by the vet on Tuesday and take care of his medical conditions and then will begin what we anticipate will be a long task of getting him to trust humans. It will take longer to bring him out of it than what it took for idiots to put him into this condition. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get this poor baby back.
