About KitKat

Kitkat was born in Iowa to a feral mother. My husband took a shine to him. He has been with us for many years and is basically a good boy. He has suspected neurological problems and his left pupil is always dilated. He is skiddish and afraid of everyone except my husband and myself. He may scratch, but out of fear and not aggression. He has never bitten anyone. He tolerates small dogs and has been around a larger dog, but not for 3 years. We have chihuahuas. We also have 3 other cats. All were rescues except one of the dogs. For the past several months, Kitkat has lost a lot of weight and is eating and drinking a lot. We think it may be diabetes since he has started to urinate EVERYWHERE and there is a lot of urine released. We are just now coming out of a very bad financial situation. We nearly lost our home and did lose a car. We know he needs to be treated by a vet, but we also understand that continued care for him is cost prohibitive. We do not want to see him put down and are trying very hard to find a way for this cat to live. He is unique and he will bond with 1 or 2 people at most. He has never been around young children and we think they would terrify him. He likes quiet. He is indoor only. Please understand that over 24 years of marriage, we have rescued, medicated and adopted out over 100 animals left on our doorstep or our driveways in 4 states. We know how this looks. We are not proud of this and we are not expecting anyone to sympathize. We just want to do what is best for Kitkat and are willing to take whatever punches we have to take to ensure his safe rehoming.
