About Diesel

Adoption Fee: $50
Siberian Husky
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Hi my name is Diesel. Please rescue me from the toddlers! Diesel is an 8 year old, smaller sized (~45 lbs) Siberian husky with reddish coloring and blue eyes. We don't have papers for him, but we have no question he's purebred. He is one handsome, compact bugger. He has been an awesome husky to have as part of our family. Quite the hilarious character, he's made us laugh regularly with his antics. He's been an 'annoying little brother' to our golden retriever for years, and kept her healthier than she would've been alone. Very specifically we are hoping to find a new home for Diesel that has a non-dominant, similar aged female husky for him to play with. He was raised with a female golden retriever and they've played well as a pair for years. So a similar tempered female of his own breed would be a lot of fun and healthy for both dogs to each have a great playmate. He sleeps in a 'cave' under our bed in our master bedroom and spends much of the day in it as well. In the mornings he loves to be allowed to jump up on the bed and snuggle for a bit. But the rest of the day he wants action and playing or to curl up in his cave. He loves to wrestle and tussle and 'play mouth.' He has excellent bite inhibition. He's more of a 'mans dog' in playing and being action-oriented, yet women who are sweet to him he will sweetly lick right in the face and try to make out (seriously his tongue will go right down your throat if you let him!) He's had a fenced backyard to play in his whole life, which we've had to reinforce in various way to prevent him from escaping for 'joy runs.' Most husky owners would understand that. He's never 'run away' from us permanently though, and even comes when called at the dog park because his 'pack' is leaving. It's our strong hope that his new owners and a husky female playmate would be able to get him to bond in the same way. We've heard so many stories of huskies running away permanently or getting dumped in shelters and put down. We've put so much time and love into raising this awesome little guy. We deeply love our husky, but a toddler and second baby are keeping him too locked away. His new home would ideally not have young kids, or at least kids in grade school or older who've had a husky. He's been around lots of nieces and nephews and our own kids for successful short periods of time. But every-day-all-day toddlers who don't understand 'gentle' and won't respect giving him some safe space are not his game. And this household won't give him that for years to come.
