Please know that we will ask for a vet reference. Name: Ollie Age: 14 years Sex: Male (approximately 35#) Breed: Labrodoodle Location: Cypress, Texas Vet Info: No information regarding vaccinations. Heartworm status unknown. Owner reports 'We do not know of previous health conditions, only those noted after we obtained possession. He had obvious dental issues (missing teeth, bad breath) and skin issues (active carbuncles). These were treated with antibiotics and topical skin treatments.' Owner Info: A family took in Ollie approximately from the previous owner who got divorced and moved out of state. As per current caregiver, 'the long and short of it is that he is a very good dog who went almost a year without care. He was left inside without access to outside and he learned to go where he was... filthy conditions that precipitated some of his issues. He probably only has a year or two left. He is happy now, if somewhat anxious.' The current caregiver reports that Ollie is blind and mostly deaf. He is nervous, shy and gentle, good with other dogs, cats and teenagers. Ollie has snapped 'only when startled and has rarely nipped at anyone.' The caregiver took Ollie to her vet due to a skin condition, carbuncles. 'His (Ollie's) skin has improved greatly, no open sores or hot spots. He does not have a yeast infection. I did not have any vaccinations given to him at the time. The doctor treated him for the skin infection. To be honest, his overall condition was poor in my estimation, and I thought we might be looking at euthanasia then. The doctor wanted to see how much he improved over a couple of months. His skin has improved. Ollie is partially blind and mostly deaf. He is easily disoriented.' Caregiver reports 'Ollie has improved over the time we have had him, however, his needs far exceed what we can offer him. He is sweet and very happy in his current situation, but we can not continue to care for him, which is heart-breaking. He needs human support throughout the day, which we are not able to provide. He cannot navigate a doggie door, or stairs and must be hand-carried. We have been able to provide this care, but cannot continue because we must work. He cannot be left outside in the heat. He is easily confused and seems to get 'lost'. When he needs to go potty, he can't hold it... so we watch him closely to get him outside.' **Owner Surrender Disclaimer: These are blind and visually impaired dogs who are living in homes, but their owners can no longer keep them.
