About Brody

Description of pet Hello my name is Brody! I am 2 years old and a Border Collie mix. I am only 40 pounds and such a loving boy when I am in an environment where I can trust people. I found myself in a kill Shelter in TX where so many black dogs never make it out and my time was up as well when help came for me. A sweet lady came and told me she was getting me out and I was going to rescue. I was so happy and was all tail wags and smiles. I bond very quickly with humans since I want a new owner. I was an owner surrender and don't know what I did to get surrendered but I waited and they never came for me. I was so scared and thought I was just going for a car ride but they took me to a terrible place and left me. I was transported from TX to NC and have had a couple of bad things happen and I'm back at doggie day care where I like it. My people found out that I am collar reactive and when you go to take me by my collar to move me or to make me do something I do not want to do, I will growl/bite/snap if it is associated with my collar. My people said something bad happened to me at some point in time in my life and I associate it with my collar. I have been to training at one facility and know basic commands and how to do jobs. Another trainer has spoken to my rescue and said this is something I will always have and associate a bad thing happening to me and its kinda like PTSD in humans. I need someone who is experienced with my breed or with dogs that is like me who has patience and understanding to work with me. I do have trust issues and I have bitten before but each time it was associated with my collar. I love the ladies at my doggie day care place and very comfortable and trust there. My adopter may need to come to daycare and work with me a few times before I leave with them so I know they are okay and not going to hurt me. My ladies at day care will be with me and let me know you are okay. I am dog selective when it comes to dominant male dogs when I feel threatened. I will stay in a crate if I need to be crated but I don't really care for it and prefer to stay out but understand whoever adopts me probably needs to work and I will need to be crated some. I also need a home without children. I have done okay with some but not all and my rescue said something must have also happened to me regarding the crate and some children at some point in my life as well. I wish I could talk to tell everyone my story but that just isn't possible. My people said its a long shot and may take some time to find my person but there is a home for every dog so I sure hope I get a home one day. I want to be able to lay on a soft warm floor again and be your best buddy in a safe and loving home with patience and understanding.
