About Benzo

Ohio Benzo is a 2 year old unaltered male Great Dane English Mastiff mix; born 12/13/15. Benzo's family moved and he wasn't able to come with them. He was with another family for a short amount of time, but their small dog showed aggression and Benzo growled in response; the family was not willing to give it more time for both dogs to adjust. Shortly after this, Benzo joined Team Rocky! Benzo has had a lot of changes and when the foster mom picked him up, he showed some signs of aggression (lunging/barking/nipping). The previous owner had never seen this behavior. A basket muzzle was used during the transport. As expected, he was very anxious on the ride to the foster home, but was no longer showing aggression. When he arrived at the foster home, he began to calm down and hasn't shown any aggression since. He slept well in a crate with the foster mom in the room with him. His introduction to the foster dad went smooth. He's a happy boy that loves attention, especially belly rubs! The fosters parents own 2 Great Danes that are also 2 years old. He did good with both introductions. The foster's male Great Dane had an issue with Benzo, but Benzo did not react. Benzo gets along with the female Great Dane, almost too much (humping). The previous owner's said Benzo hasn't been around females too much. The foster parents also have a 9 year old son. Benzo has no issues with the child. He seems more interested in the dogs than the child. His previous owners have 4 daughters (ages 12,13,14,16) that he did great with. Benzo has become over protective in his foster home and we now feel a child free home may be the best option. He is currently eating Victor Hero Grain Free. Previous owners took Benzo to the groomers for nail trims and bathed at home (he tends to try to get out of the tub prematurely). Benzo doesn't appear to know basic commands but he listens well.
