About NALA-1 - $400

Adoption Fee: $400
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

NALA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine. NALA-1 is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 20 August 2015 and at the time of rescue in the end of August 2019, weighed around 47.00 pounds. The shelter has a breed listing of German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. NALA-1 arrived at the rescue on Thursday, 12th September and was a very shy girl. She had very thin hair and needed to gain a good amount of weight. She settled in well, but did get a little over-whelmed when playing with a lot of dogs, however, in smaller numbers she was great. Over the few months she has been here, she has gotten much more confident and loves chasing and playing. She has gained weight and her hair is starting to grow in and thicken beautifully, however, it will most likely take a few growing seasons to get the full undercoat. NALA can be timid in when she meets new people or new places but she soon warms up and enjoys to share cuddles and her love. She would make a great family member and although I have not seen her with children her gentle, sweet nature I do believe that as long as children respect her as with all dogs and give her space and not give her anything to be fearful of, there will be no problems. NALA has been estimated by the shelter vet to be around 4 years old, although she does look and act younger, but with adult dogs it is difficult to put an age on them, so it is important to know her age really is just a best estimate for the condition she was in when found. Nala does like to play and run and needs an active lifestyle and a family that understands the importance of mental stimulation to keep her brain challenged also - this along with training and a healthy diet will lead to a wonderful life with her. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO COMMENT HOW SHE WILL BE AROUND CATS OR LIVESTOCK. NALA-1 is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
