About Bella

Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Hello, please text 5055777707 do not email . Bella is my dearest companion. I love her to pieces. But she is not trustworthy around my Great Dane as they are both female and spayed and have dominant personalities so I feel I need to choose between keeping one or the other. Both have instigated fights with each other and it's not healthy for either to be with the other. Bella gets along very well with Cuchulain, my partners Staffordshire bull terrier neutered male. However she exposes strong 'displaced aggression' if he barks at a bicycle or another dog. So she must not be with any other animal in my strong opinion. She is a 1 and only girl. Because of her bloodline, if a fight ensues, it is very hard to split up as this type dog gets lock jaw. Whether it is lock jaw or whether it is due to trauma and a feeling of needing to fight for her life, Bella does not have a stop button. One has to tear her off the other dog. She has just had 10 days of training, and the teacher said she was one of the sweetest dogs he ever trained and she's very easily trainable she wants to do whatever you want. She listens carefully and she's able to sit either by voice command or hand command as well as lie down command and stay and come command. Bella even has a word that she looks for before she touches a food bowl in front of her, she will eat when released with that word. I make it fun and I tell her how much I care about her and what a good girl she is and little names I have for her before she starts to eat and before she hears that word that means she is released. I've gone to great great lengths to train her because I know what kind of dog she is and I wanted to make sure that she knew that she would have a home for the rest of her life in my house.. My partner is really only wanting us to have one dog, so that is why I am in this position now. So she's sweet natured and very well-trained but CANNOT be around other animals for the above reason. It's just a shame that I'm in this position where I have to make a decision. I want to see who's out there that may want her. In order to give her a chance, at a 'no animal besides her' home. The person would have to be extremely loving, would have to have a time for her, would have to have a garden for her, would have to let her sleep preferably on their bed or in their bedroom on a dog bed. I would be looking for someone who likes to play with her, and take her on trips in the car. She left to go to the dog park I muzzle her when off property in case anything bothers her. With it on, she is no harm to other animals. I would be looking for someone who likes to play with her, she's a very happy positive and snuggly dog. The person would need to be loving and kind hearted and not leave her alone for too many hours a day or night'| to please take her on walks and or hikes. When hiking at the dog park I always muzzle her with a very breathable and able to drink with muzzle this insures that just in case anything bothers her she cannot snap at anything or start a fight. I am an animal advocate I do not believe in dogs ever been chained, or confined to small spaces or made to fight. She does have one health issue with her condition of a very alkaline urine tract and bladder so she needs to have medication two times daily for the rest of her life. I am willing to keep paying for her medication, so as not to have the person have to pay for it that would adopt her. She is also allergic to several meats and even rice and grains, so I need the person who wants her to be prepared to feed her non filler foods. I take extremely good care of her I'm not even sure I would want to really adopt her out. People can be so fickle and cruel and non consistent. I would only do it if I found the right loving and conscious good character person AND home conditions for her. I would want to be able to check in with the new owner and see her / visit her from time to time, to make sure she is well treated. Otherwise if she was ailing or unhappy at the new home, I would want to help the new owners of her to find a better home for her. So maybe a trial month would be a good way to go? I say all this because I work also as a volunteer at a shelter and I see so many dogs get adopted and then come back and then get euthanized so I don't want this to happen to this dear dear dear dog who I love so much. It's not that I would want to control the next person I just feel so responsible as I promised her I would never give her up. If my partner were more open I would definitely keep her.
