About Charlie-PENDING!

There are many, many Terrier lovers in the dog world...they're considered to be one of the most desirable of breeds that is available today. This is due to their consistently great temperaments and overall intelligence. There's also no question that they're strikingly beautiful with their beautiful non-shedding (or lightly shedding) scruffy coats, and soft, expressive eyes. Charlie is an extremely beautiful West Highland Terrier mixed with a Cairn Terrier. His stunning coat speaks of both breeds in his mix...the gold picks up the color of most Cairns and his scruffiness is in line with both the Westie and Cairn coats. It's difficult to tell in this photo (due to his very sad shelter coat)) but Charlie, once given a sudsy bath and grooming, will be one of the most handsome guys around. Charlie is about 9 - 10 years old or so (such a great age..past babyish behaviors with many, many active and healthy years ahead) and just about 12 lbs (such a perfect weight for Charlie to be accepted in all situations where a smaller and very well-behaved dog is welcome). The Terrier breeds are a solid combination both physically and in stability of temperament. It is for this reason that they seem to acclimate to change very well and become outstanding family members once acclimated to their new homes. It's safe to say that Charlie has learned to live in happy harmony with both humans and dogs... and now seems to have come to a place of peace after overcoming the trials of his previous life. Charlie is finally safe and secure and very ready to embrace a new family with all the love and positive feelings that live inside of this special guy. We feel strongly that Charlie's forever family should have the time and energy to give to this adorable guy with the great temperament. With tons of love, nurturing and clear boundaries/ leadership provided by his humans, Charlie will emerge as a well-adjusted and very bonded companion. He's so gorgeous both inside and out and deserves a family that appreciates the gift of his temperament and is willing to show him boundaries through love and time spent. We would like to have Charlie join a family that is retired, works part-time or from a home office. Charlie loves his people with all his heart and is too sensitive to be left alone while his family works full-time outside of the home We are searching for an active, dog-crazy family for Charlie. He would be thrilled to spend his days in the company of his people be it at home cuddling and playing or at a dog-friendly office. Another like-sized, gentle and fun doggie playmate and a fenced yard would be perfect for Charlie. He (like all dogs) is happier and therefore more well-behaved if he's fulfilled with exercise and fun followed by snuggling with his favorite people. It would be a family who spend lots of time at home (or chooses to take a sweet dog with them to dog-friendly situations) that would provide a great forever home for Charlie. He would enjoy the time spent together and would blossom with a family that considers their dog a valued and full-time member of their family. Charlie enjoys his relationships! While Charlie enjoys humans of all ages, we would prefer to place him in a home with only older dog-crazy kids (tail pulling, awkward handling or rough treatment will lead to a dog that's fearful of children). Older, dog-loving kids can be best friends with Charlie and active participants in a training regimen that's so important to a dog's development as a well-behaved adult dog. Charlie will be up to date on his vetting/vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. We've requested that Charlie be fixed prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Charlie's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.
