Banjo is an 8 year old male herding mix who likes to go for walks and chew on sticks. He needs a new home because, with a small child in the house, we don't have enough time or energy to meet his needs. Banjo would be a great companion for a couple (or family with older kids) who can take him on long walks/runs or give him a job to do. He does not like other dogs and can be skittish with new people. But once he knows you he loves you. He deals well with our toddler but would probably prefer a home with teenagers or no children. He currently lives with a cat who he he gets along with. He is protective of the home and will bark at delivery drivers and people coming to the door. He has never bitten anyone but his bark is ferocious and can be scary. Banjo loves water- especially swimming and jumping from a canoe to retrieve balls. Ideal New Owner Experienced dog owner Can handle aggressive behavior towards other dogs. Has space such as sizable yard or even a farm. Has time and energy. Banjo is currently on anxiety medication which has helped his overall temperament. More exercise and attention could help him flourish into a great companion.
