Meet Poppi! She is a 1 year old cattle dog mix of some sort. Previous owner was told she was a heeler, aussie but she has a lot of Border Collie tendencies in there with spinning and the famous border collie hugs! Poppi was unfortuantely sold at 5 weeks old and separated from her mother and siblings so she has very typical behavior issues we seen when that happens. She is shy of new people and places and around new dogs. We have not cat tested yet. She does get along with other dogs, but it takes time. We are told she does resource guard but we don't allow that to happen here so it isn't a problem. Every dog has their own area to eat and feel safe and unbothered. She has some scarring on her face that may never go away. She connects with her people and wants to be good, just hasn't had a lot of social training which her mother and siblings would have provided had she been allowed to stay with them until 8, preferably 10-12 weeks of age. Unfortunately, that didn't happen so now she has to deal with the aftermath. A big sign of a backyard breeder is the unwillingness to keep puppies with their mother for the correct amount of time wanting to turn a fast buck at the expense and welfare of the animal. Poppi qualifies for the training program through Action Agility and will go with a certificate for a free 8 week class through them if adopted in the local area. She would thrive in this and help her grow and develop. It will also be beneficial for her adoptive family to help establish a connection and boundaries. ______________________________________ Intake: 2 Sep 19 ----- Breed: Border Collie, Aussie, Heeler, Cattle dog Galore ----- Age: 1 year, DOB July 2018 ----- Weight: 35 lbs ----- Status: owner surrender ----- Compatible with: medium to large dogs (have not small dog tested), courteous children.
