The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less than ideal conditions so will need to be house and leash trained. Most have never lived in house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion. Hi! My name is Sophie and I am a Labrador Retriever + who is 2 1/2 years old, and I weigh 53 pounds. I was rescued from a shelter along with my mom, Mia, and 5 siblings when I was a tiny baby. I was adopted and lived with my adopter for a year and a half. She moved into an apartment and gave me away to some very bad people who kept me chained to a tree for a year and then dumped me at a high kill shelter after I barked at the mail man. They didn't even bother to find out if I was spayed, which, thanks to B.R.A.S., I was. I was emaciated and both of my eyes were full of infection. The folks at the shelter tracked my microchip back to B.R.A.S. and they immediately made arrangements for me to come back to Colorado and be taken care of. I was so scared but after medication, lots of loving and pets, freedom to run in a big play area with other dogs, lots of good food, I am a new dog! I need a family who will give me room to run, take me hiking, and spend lots of time with me. In other words, I will be a cherished member of the family.
