About Merlin

Adoption Fee: donation
Australian Cattle Dog
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

He is very scared of large groups of people because of abuse he had experience in the past before my son rescued him from the pound. Merlin was so happy to be rescued he was wonderful to my son from the first moment he met him. He was scared of everyone when he first got to my house but after a day or two he warmed right up to us. He warms up to women very fast but he still does not like to be corrected about his behavior so I use a cage to help him to calm down. But even then he gets upset when closing his gate so I have to talk to him to calm him down. I have two other dogs and when my son was just evicted from his home he asked me to try and find a home for Merlin. I truly love Merlin and he has such a sweet personality when everything is calm. He definitely does better in a calm environments. When he warms up to people you could never ask for a sweeter dog but he doesn't like lots visitors or lots of new faces. I preferred to keep him from my grandchildren to be on the safe side. He is better off being with someone who doesn't have lots of guest or children. He prefers adults and is overly protective when he feels you may need protection. I think he would be better in a home with no other pets even though I do have dogs. My Rottweiler has kept him from hurting my smaller dog so I wouldn't have him around smaller dogs. He is ok around dogs bigger than him usually but he always tries to test who is most dominant. He takes lots patience and attention and loves to be loved. He sleeps on my bed with myself and my other two dogs. Also because of his issues like I said, I don't want to test him with my grandchildren. Please if someone who has lots of patience and room for him to run he would be the perfect fit. If you have training experience he could be trained quickly I am sure. It makes me sick but I have to get rid of him ASAP because he is in need of a new home since I am staying with a friend now and they can't have another dog right now
