About Brew

Brew is being fostered in Lakeland, FL (Polk County). Brew is the Betty White of dogs! She might be on the older side for a bulldog (8) with some health problems, but you wouldn't know it with her energy, spunk and strength! Her new foster family has had her for about a week and she has adjusted very well, gets along with everyone and welcomes friends and family with a few barks and then some love. She is a snuggler and has the cutest snaggle tooth ever! She is underweight but is putting on some pounds and eats like she just got out of prison. She is super food motivated and will be at your feet while you're eating patiently waiting for a few crumbs to fall. Her foster family is lining up a local vet to continue her medical treatment for heartworms and retesting of liver values that have tested abnormal. She limps a little due to arthritis and what appears to be hip dysplasia (normal for her age and breed), but that doesn't slow her down from running to the door to see who's there or making sure the backyard is possum free. Despite needing a little nip/tuck from overbreeding, her skin & wrinkle folds are in really good shape, and she does not smell like some of the other bulldogs we've seen. She is her foster's shadow and wants to be where her foster is or where people are...but if you're resting, she is resting. She crates well and lets you sleep in - yea! She likes her bone but is not a chewer of shoes, furniture etc. and walks to the door when she wants to go outside to go potty. And so far...not gassy at all...a famous bulldog trait that is not always appreciated. She doesn't have much interest in playing with her foster dog sister. She has tried to establish her placement with some growls and nips but nothing that's not quickly settled down with simple verbal correction. This gal is special and has a lot of life left in her and loves being part of a family. We are a foster-based rescue organization with foster homes throughout the state of Florida. We predominantly save dogs from municipal shelters throughout the Southeastern U.S. Our rescue dogs live in foster homes - there is no central facility.
