About Gertie

Gertie is a sweet and loving 50lb dog who wants to be your one and only. During the day she spends her time outside hunting lizard and laying in the sun. When lounging on the couch or floor she wants to sit in your lap and get pets. At night she loves being the little spoon or laying at your feet on the bed. Gertie was used for breeding before being abandoned by her owners, and left at the shelter. We brought Gertie into our home over 11 months ago and taught her how to use a doggy dog, chew on toys, go to the bathroom outside, eat treats and to start trusting people. She is still anxious around new people and will run away but warms up after a few visits and lots of treats. Gertie has never been around cats and or young children (under 8). She loves giving kisses, belly rubs and peanut butter! We are ONLY re-homing her because she and our other 'bully breed' have struggled to get along with one of our other and it has become un-safe for them both. We will not just let her go to anyone and will ask applicants a million questions. We are heartbroken we have to give her up and will look far and wide to find her the best home possible.
