About Zeus

Zeus is a 8-year old, 60-pound male German Shepherd mix located in Lexington, MA. He is a sweet and faithful dog whose family loves him but is not in position to keep up with his GSD qualities. Zeus currently lives in a high traffic home with young kids and lots of activity. His ideal home is one with adults, or adults with teens, but no cats or other dogs. His main human must be experienced with working breeds, preferably GSDs. Pleasures: He loves fetch and is very good at this game as long as you have two balls! Tennis balls are his most valued objects. He is also happy with daily walks and would make a great hiking partner on easy to moderate trails. He likes being with his people, going for car rides, and anything water-related, especially boating! When the family goes to Maine for an outdoorsy vacation, Zeus is in his element where he becomes his best self. Personality: Though a mix, Zeus does strong GSD tendencies - he likes having a job or focus. He thrives on direction and a regular schedule. He likes to follow house rules and is obedient when held to such standards. When told to go to his crate he just goes; when off leash, he returns when called; when it's time for a night's rest, he goes to his dog bed. Zeus is also a super loyal 'people pleaser.' Above all, he is a loving pal. Special Needs: Zeus is low to moderate energy and fairly low-maintenance but has allergies and separation anxiety. He requires supplements and a grain-free diet to maintain his skin and coat. Because of his current busy home life, he is on medication to help him be calm which we advise continuing at least until he is adjusted to a new life. Zeus' evaluator said, 'Zeus is really just one of the best out there. He is super kind, just good energy|He was completely ok with me in no way did I feel any anxiousness from him.'
