About Rich

Urgent! Poor Rich needs someone who will love him! Volunteer notes: 'AUGUST 2019: Poor Rich was returned to the shelter this weekend because he is 'full of energy' and 'too much work'. :-/ Rich is an energetic guy, but that's to be expected when you adopt a young dog. He did a lot of pacing and owner searching when he was initially outside. Poor guy. He was also focused on all the sounds and activity in the yard, which is how he was when he was with us last year. Once he chilled out a bit, we started to play some fetch which he really enjoys and he took some treats from me. He could be a bit grabby taking treats but we worked on that a bit while we were outside. Rich can also be a bit barrier reactive depending on how the dog is who is walking by. 2018 NOTES: I met Rich soon after he was surrendered. He didn't want to come out of his cage at first. He looked at me from the other side interested, but didn't move. I realized he must be afraid of the bed in his cage. Oops. So I went to the other side where he slowly allowed me to leash him up. He shied away from barking dogs and wanted to get outside quickly. Rich can be a moderate puller on leash. He was very jumpy and grabby when we first got outside and didn't always respond to correction. When a dog came into the adjacent playlot he showed some barrier reactivity with lots of running and pacing. When that dog was gone, Rich chased some toys and once we played a bit, he picked a shady spot under a tree and rolled on his back. Like most of our dogs, he was easier to handle once he burnt off all that pent up energy. Came in as an owner surrender on 8/23/19 and is available to rescues NOW. Rich's previous owner reported that he is good with children of all ages and that he can be dog selective.' Please consider saving this sweet boy before its too late for him. He is at a high kill shelter. He vould be killed anytime.
