About Diesel

Adoption Fee: $75
Catahoula / Pit Bull
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

I need to re-home Diesel because he keeps attacking my other dogs, including the foster dogs I'm trying to find the owner of, and my Chihuahuas. He has also killed one neighbors cat, tried to kill one of my cats, and pulled me to the ground by the leash, yanking it from me, and ran down the street to attack another neighbors dog who was minding his own business in his yard. He yanked the leash from me and cut himself on barbed wire recently, and I had to take him to the emergency vet as the slice was deep and wide. They wanted $1200 to see him up. Since he was no longer bleeding I refused treatment and took him to regular vet the next day. They could have seen it up for $200 or less but vet said it would take awhile but would heal on it's own and gave me 3 weeks more of antibiotics for him. A week later he broke away from me yet again, all while dragging me to the ground each time, and got free, and someone picked him up and took him to the pound where before they even opened in the morning, they stitched him up at my expense costing me $400 to get him out of doggy jail. I can not afford to keep taking him to the vet and bailing him out of jail. If you have a fenced yard, he will be ok. He's a good dog, he just loves to run. I think it's the catahoula in him. I was unwillingly forced out of my home after putting in an expensive fence, and now I rent. I'm not putting up another fence where I do not actually own.. thus being out the money when landlord decides to rent to someone else. I'm getting old and I'm tired of being dragged to the ground. Please give this guy a chance. He is house and crate trained, however when left all day while you go to work, I'd suggest a crate as he used to be destructive. I have not tested him out in at least a year and don't plan to in a rental. He is extremely loving and is great with some dogs, but hard to tell which ones. He is not food or toy or bone aggressive. He is extremely fast when he decides to run. Loves to play ball but on his terms (he won't bring it back). He walks well on a leash until he hears another dog bark or sees a cat. He gets his stitches out in a few days. All shots are up to date. I don't really want to see him go but it's him or the two Chihuahuas will end up being his snack, and probably at least one cat and I don't want that either. He's very quiet, seldom barks. Just loves to run to the muddy pond to play and to the neighbors dog to pick a fight.
