PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RESCUE ME CONTACT LINK! Thank you. Please visit our website and submit an application prior to emailing for information. www.odbtr.org. We will NOT respond to inquiries unless we have an application on file. We do not charge an application fee like many Boston rescues. Ours is free and it helps us use our time more efficiently. Give us the time it takes you to submit an app and we'll give you our full attention. ***Please do not message us or comment here for adoption information. We will not answer specific questions until we have an application on file.*** Bart is a darling 21 pound, 8 year old couch potato who loves to go for car rides. Bart wants to be in charge and will eventually warm up to another dog of similar size or smaller if that dog is submissive and non-reactive. Ideally, he would be best without other dogs or no young children as he cannot handle noise and commotion and becomes upset. Bart is fine supervised in a fenced yard, but he will chase all wildlife and is very fast for a senior. It takes Bart a bit to warm up around new humans too, and he will keep his distance until he is ready to seek and give affection. After the first few days he came to his foster mom, he bumped his nose against her leg indicating he wanted to be petted. Bart loves head rubs and butt scratches but is not a lap dog and he only wants to be touched on his terms. He had been with his foster family two months before he laid down and wanted a belly rub, which was a true moment of celebration for them. If he's sleeping or does not see you approach and you attempt to pet him, he will scream in fear and jump. Bart takes Prozac for anxiety. We believe he will be able to come off of it within a few months to a year after he's been in a non-abusive home. Other than that, he is a healthy boy who is 100% housebroken and will not chew anything he's not supposed to. Bart prefers to always be with his human, but once you are out of the house he calms down and lays on the couch. During his time with the previous owner, nothing was done to help Bart overcome his fear and aggression issues, but he has made tremendous progress in a loving, quiet environment. His ideal home would be with a retired or work at home person who isn't gone more than 3-4 hours. Bart's fee will be partially sponsored but please know that we will not discuss his or any other of our Boston's fees until an application has been submitted. ****We won't respond to emails that only ask is this dog available? or how much is the fee? If you see them, they're available. Adoption fees vary from dog to dog.****
