About Sammy

Sam is about a 2 year old, 75 lb., Redbone Hound/Rottweiler mix that would be happy in a home without any other dogs or children, in a calm atmosphere. He is a gentle giant in our home and is very loyal, uses doggie door, is not destructive. He is very loving and sweet and enjoys being around people in a calm setting. He would be a good companion for a single person or childless couple. He enjoys playing in the backyard, looking for and chasing geckos. He likes retrieving a ball and will play soccer with it. He knows how to sit, lay down, come, and stay and knows the word 'no'. Sam is healthy and current on his shots and heartworm medicine. We do have a yearly medical plan with him through Islands Animal Clinic that you could use if you take over the $30 a month fee for the next year. When outside the home, he shows off how strong a dog he is by tugging. He is alert and cautious to everything around him. It would be wonderful for someone to take the time to train him how to walk without tugging. Our understanding is that at his former home he bite a child while playing by their pool. I do not have the details of that situation. My guess is that there was excitement and sudden moves that spooked him, but I really don't know. We cannot keep him because things did not go well with a meet and greet of our son's dog.
