About Saige

This classic blue girl is Saige, a 3.5 year old Australian Cattledog. She is such a cool dog, and she needs a home that has experience working with dogs who have strong working or Herding tendencies. If you have had easy dogs before and are not a strong leader, this is not the dog for you. This is the kind of dog that a confident handler appreciates. Saige knows all of her basics: sit/stay, down/stay, go to place, walk nicely on leash, and a pretty good recall. She is house and crate trained. Saige is ok with people. She is pretty typical in that she can be protective. She also veers away when she feels threatened. This is not a Starbucks/lots of family and social events kind of dog. When she feels comfortable, she is very happy and loving. She loves to be close to her people and will even cuddle with her person on a bench and people watch! Saige is good with dogs and can be gregarious in play. She is good with other dogs who have good social skills. Therefore she is not a dog park kind of dog. Honestly, most Cattledogs aren't. Anyhow, a confident handler will remind her when she needs to settle down. Saige is not good with cats. Saige likes to play tug and has a decent fetch game with a ball. She has lots of fun engaging her person be it tug or play or just playing and running around the yard. Saige isn't the dog for someone who wants a dog to spoil. She thrives with someone who knows how to read a dog in new situations and will show her how to manage anything scary. With love and consistency she will make a really good dog for someone that knows Cattledogs isn't afraid to tell her when to behave. She has been professionally trained using positive reinforcement in all of her obedience, but responds well with a firm 'NO' when needed to correct unwanted behavior. In short, for a confident leader, Saige is an amazing companion. Saige is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She is located in Half Moon Bay near San Francisco. We do not ship our dogs. A home visit and vet reference are required.
