For more photos please visit our Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Almost-Home-New-Mexico/203840136304815 Approximate DOB 03/01/2015 Size - About 50 lbs History- Taken to a small rural shelter as a puppy somehow she was skipped over time and time again-- nobody adopted and took her home, no rescues picked her up, nothing. She grew up alone, in a shelter hiding under a dog bed. Then one day we started seeing posts on FB as the shelter staff and volunteers scrambled to try and get someone to notice her. They sent photos and begged for a rescue to come forward so they didn't have to put her down. It wasn't fair for a puppy to live her life there at a shelter under a dog bed. We agreed to take her and she was transported to us but nobody had mentioned the extent of her fearfulness. The small puppy we saw pictures of was a scared juvenile who ran away from us to the far end of the property terrified. We sat out on the porch and tossed chicken at her begging for her to come to us- to trust us. She finally grew to love us and showed us how wonderful her personality is. She grew very loving and playful. She loved all the toys and loved cuddling on the couch. But whoever adopts her will have to earn it as we did. They will have to keep her on leash and earn her trust and love using yummies and love. It will take time and someone will have to be committed and patient. Temperament- Initially- Very standoffish and shy. However, once she bonds she is a sweet, goofy, lovebug. She loves playing with toys and hanging out on the couch. She is such a different dog once she trusts and loves someone. Energy Level- Mid level energy - she loves to play with her friends. She is friends with both big dogs and small dogs. Dogs/Cats- Good with the other dogs. Don't know if she would be ok with cats or if she will chase them. Housetrained- House trained perfectly using a dog door. There have been no accidents at all. She is also crate trained. This girl is so beautiful, sweet, and enjoys cuddling on the couch with her loved one. She will make a wonderful addition to any family wanting to give a very special girl her happily ever after. Adoption fee - small donation to the rescue. Taffy is spayed, has been given all age appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, microchipped, 3 yr rabies vacc, HW tested, collar and tags, training information, and all the support you need.
