About DORIS DAY *URGENT

American Staffordshire Terrier / Dalmatian
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

ZIDEO AT THE BOTTOMDORIS DAY - #A1732069 7 yrs. old, 60 lbs. Ask any staff or volunteer who know Doris Day, and they'll say the same thing: Why is such a beautiful, loving and well-mannered dog still at the shelter?! It's hard to believe, but this affectionate girl has spent over 570 days living in a kennel since her first intake date in 2017. Despite her long stay in such a stressful environment, Doris has managed to remain calm and gentle -- whether she's being handled in her kennel, playing in the yard with her human friends or on neighborhood walks. She loves to roll over for belly rubs and will sit politely for a treat, which she takes very gently. Doris recently got a much-deserved break from shelter life during the #4days4life and earned a glowing review from her foster mom: 'I fostered Doris Day, and she did wonderful! She does great in the car, on a leash and she never barked! She was even ok with my senior cat. Given more time to adjust, I know she would be fine living with a feline. The volunteers said she's not good with other dogs, but I didn't see any aggression at all. She's potty-trained, she is very easy going, and low/med energy. She did great meeting strangers. Never jumped on them. Was very polite. Oh, and she was a star at the self dog wash I took her too. This 7-year-old girl deserves a great home!' Doris arrived at South LA shelter as a stray on September 2017, was eventually transferred to the WLA Shelter and adopted in July 2018. Sadly, she was found as a stray in September 2018 and brought back to WLA. Her owners were notified but never responded. Since she's been back, she's continued to be a joy with all who spend time with her. She's so good that she's often chosen to help train new volunteers with their handling skills because of her patience and low-key temperament. Doris isn't comfortable when other dogs walk right up into her personal space, but she's fine when they're standing just a few feet away from her. She also has little to no reaction when she sees them during her walks, so taking her for a stroll is always a pleasure. Doris Day deserves a soft bed and a family to love. Please come meet her or share her post so she can find her forever home! VIDEO:https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=A1732069&epa=SEARCH_BOX
