About BETTY BOOTS

Adorable, but crazy, little BETTY is a special little 10 lb girl who is seeking an extra special patient owner with a gentle touch. BETTY is a 3 yr old female terrier mix. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, dewormed and microchipped. She was an owner surrender that came from a life of neglect and possibly abuse. She was terrified, and totally unsocialized, untrained, malnourished and desperately in need of grooming when we took her into rescue. BETTY is a little shy at first, but warms up quick with new people so sees often. She has come a very long way since a year ago, and even asks for others to pick her up now or jumps on their laps! She is a clingy clingon once she trusts and bonds with her person and will never leave their side. She LOVES to cuddle and be held or on your lap or held all the time. BETTY is GREAT with other dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, and older kids. She is playful, housebroken, crate trained, great with home baths and at the groomers, rides good in the car, knows how to swim and loves to float in the pool on a raft even!! Now for the negative..... 1). BETTY is a barker. She is extremely hypersensitive and is alert to anything or anyone anywhere behind, in or near our backyard. She thinks she's a guard dog! Lol. She runs our yard on patrol. 2). BETTY is an escape artist. She can jump very high (and far out), climb/scale fences and gates and squeeze thru tiny openings. You MUST have an extremely secure yard with a block wall at least 5' - preferably 6', high with no openings (slats) at gates - even if it's reinforced with chicken wire. And absolutely, no chain link fencing. If BETTY gets out and has not bonded to you yet, SHE WILL RUN! For this reason, ABSOLUTELY no dog doors, and no small children that may leave doors open. with 3). BETTY is ok on leash, but could use more practice with leash training. Definitely use a well-fitted harness, and I even recommend double leashing with a slip lead as well. For these reasons, BETTY MUST stay in Lake Havasu City, AZ, and will not be available for out of area adoptions.
