The short story, We have a home in Los Cabos Mexico. %A0On our last trip in June, we found a dog tied to a tree at the back of the field. %A0He was in really bad shape. %A0Someone had found the dog on the road, tried to bandage his many wounds, but had no resources to do anything else. %A0He was not eating or drinking, and we later found he was probably abandoned a week or more prior, and would not have lived more than a couple days more. %A0We just could not leave him there and received permission to take the dog to a vet, not sure if it would be to help, or to have him put down in a more humane way than tied to a tree. He was one sick boy, but was sweet and gentle to us. %A0We named him 'Taco'. We found a Vet, and we decided together to try & save Taco's Life. %A0He stayed at the vet for a month, getting his wounds healed, infections cured, all his shots & then neutered. %A0He gained some weight, and was on his way to the next step on his long road to recovery. %A0 Because of his sweet disposition, We found a dog boarding & training facility in Los Cabos & Taco moved there. %A0It was clear to the staff there that Taco was going to be a challenge. %A0It was their opinion that Taco was a 'Bait Dog' and spent his short life (we think he is 18 mo to 2 years old) with other fighting dogs, and was on the receiving end of much abuse. %A0Taco's time at the boarding facility was short. %A0He jumped over a fence and fought with another dog. %A0The facility is more of a dog hotel & recreation facility, not a rehabilitation %A0facility & they just could not take the risk with their other clients dogs, so back to the vet for our Taco. Taco is very good with people, and is reported to still be very friendly to everyone! %A0The Vet & her staff are trying very hard to find some options for Taco. %A0Thankfully, the costs for care & boarding for animals in Mexico is 10% of what it is here, we can afford to support Taco for a little while longer down there, but they too have less resources to find him a permanent home. %A0We would like to bring him to the states & find him a home with people to love, but probably not other dogs. %A0Failing to do that, there will be few options for Taco, and we would hate to have to put him down after so much effort to save his life! Hopefully someone will see one of our many posts, and be that home for Taco. %A0We will bring him back & cover any expenses if we can find the right home. And we can put anyone in touch directly with the vet in Mexico for any other details or questions! Photos of our 'Street Taco' attached! God bless the work you do! y Muchas Gracias!
