About Appa

Appa is a super sweet Alaskan Husky who was previously in the Downey, CA shelter for over 2 months as an owner surrender. They said that he's 6 years old but we somehow think that he is younger. He's super chill and just has so much love to give. Just a little over a week ago he has really fearful of people and dogs but now has completely changed especially towards people. He started to realize that people are not so bad after all that he gave us humans another chance to be part of his life. He absolutely now loves everyone and his way of saying hi is basically leaning on you and as soon as you reach out and pet him, you'll immediately see a husky with his belly up basically saying 'Hi, nice to meet you! Can you give me a belly rub?' As for dogs, he now gets along with our pack and we have been working on socializing him slowly outside. He does need some time to warm up but can definitely get along with other dogs with time. I'd say you'd need a couple of days of careful and safe introduction. He will usually tend to be fearful of a new dog but he eventually comes around and realizes they are not bad as long as he is secure that you will take care of him. I would definitely say though that he's a low energy husky (if that even exists) compared to my huskies. He's amazing on the leash (using a harness is best for him - which I can provide for the adopter) and might just want moderate walks although he might slowly build endurance since I try to make him exercise several times a day. I'm just used to this routine due to my huskies. It would be best to have an adopter that knows about huskies as these dogs are really smart and can sometimes outsmart us. If you are a first-time husky owner, please do your research and be prepared to give them the attention and love they would need. In our opinion, Appa is very easy to take care of. He's already house trained, potty trained, is amazing on car rides and for a husky he listens really well! He needs that loving home that will give him the attention and love that he deserves.
