About HAZEL

URGENT! Beautiful timid HAZEL is on the EUTH list of a hi-kill NY City shelter with deadline of NOON 7/20. She is an owner-surrender because of 'loss of income' and is heartbroken & terrified by this scary place. She's trying her best to cope - but doesn't trust the shelter at all. She cowers in the kennel - accepting treats graciously, but doesn't want to be removed with 'that leash'. She needs time to settle in - gain confidence. But the shelter is in a big hurry to just get rid of her, instead of letting her slowly relax. Hazel is described by her owner as friendly, affectionate and playful but shy for a while with new people intros. Hazel loves playing with tennis balls, rope and tire toys. She was fed dry food three times a day and is house-trained. Sweet Hazel does not like to be home-alone and whines a bit at first but calms down soon and takes a nappy.
