About Sophia

Sophia is a 5 1/2 year old, 70 pound Black and Tan Coonhound. Like most hounds she is happy, friendly, even tempered and affectionate. She is not a barker and is a pretty quiet girl. Sophia does well with other dogs but also would not mind being an only dog. Sophia knows her manners and does not require a kennel. She walks nicely on a leash, doesn't jump on people and is a real sweetie. Sophia would like a home with a fenced yard so she can run and play safely. Sophia came into rescue as an owner surrender. Her owners had a baby and she got the boot. She did nothing to the baby. She originally came from a rescue in Tennessee and has been with the same family since she was a pup. She is still mourning her family she lost and doesn't quite understand what happened or why she was dumped. Sophia was born with entropion in her left eye, a painful condition where the eyelashes grow down instead of up and scrape across the eye. Her eyelashes were surgically fixed but her eye doesn't produce any tears. Sophia needs eye drops in her eye three times a day to keep her eye moist. She stands patiently to get her meds. The eye meds cost about $35-40 a month. Sophia does have vision in both eyes. Sophia is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, and microchipped.
