About Goofy

Goofy is an incredibly sweet beautiful approximately 1yr old black mouth cur weighing in at approximately 70 pounds - 70 pounds of pure muscle. He does very well with other dogs and people of all ages; however, he is very much still a puppy and as such, he can be rambunctious at times and young children should be careful that he does not knock them over accidentally. When playing with other dogs, he fits in great with many different personalities and play styles. He is not possessive with his belongings or food and is happy to share with dog and human alike. He takes treats gently from both adults and children and seems timid of them at first as if he has never been allowed treats before. Goofy would be best suited for a very active family and/or a family with a fenced yard because BOY can he run!! He is not a natural swimmer (i.e. he is not like a lab which jumps in a pool whenever they can) and does not seem to like getting his feet wet although will still do his business outside if it is wet. He is potty/house trained and does not seem to have an inclination to chew or destroy random objects (I have children and there are toys and socks in many places to which he has completely left alone). He loves to run and play but loves to be near his humans and lay with you wherever you are. He is a 'typical dog' in so much that he will bark at intruders and passersby but does not bark or whine when left alone in the house. He has not been in a crate as he has not shown any behavior to require us to crate him. He is curious about cats and thinks they are there for him to play with and bark at, so a house with no cats is the best situation, or a family that has determination to train him out of the curiosity. He is smart and interested in pleasing people so it is a possible task and we are trying to help him with that now. He does very well on a leash; however, he is incredibly strong and will need a little (not much) positive reinforcement/training to reverse his idea of walking you vs. you walking him. Goofy has all very normal dog behaviors, some of which have already been worked with like potty/house training, no food aggression, etc. Fun fact, he howls when he barks and it is super cute and he is a good car rider.
