About Yukon

Welcome Yukon! This big, stunning guy is another last minute save from euthanasia room, his owners NEVER CAME for him, another 4th of July casualty...unbelievable. Except it is... This 93lb Border Collie /Shepherd mix looks intimidating, but, is the biggest marshmallow, just wants to be held, preferably in your lap! Yukon is about 3 years old and had been very well taken care of in his previous life. He's used to being in a house and right next to his person. Yukon has to be great on leash or he'd fly you like a kite. And, he's great off leash! My minivan was out of commission when I picked up Yukon and Opie from the airport, Yukon helped me out by agreeing to use a very steep ramp to get in my SUV. We took 2 passes at it, on the third one, he walked right up, and I know, it was just to please me. He is awesome. I just love this dog. Fantastic on his first pack hike. He watched me and the pack, knew to get back in the van even when just doubling back by. Ahhhhh! No struggles with this big boy! He loves the water and will follow you everywhere! I went into the cabin, on the property, as I sometimes need to, and he just stood outside the door waiting for me. My helper Vicky took some photos of him watching the door! It's summer, Yukon is shedding his winter coat. Vicky spent some time with him (in a closed kennel to keep the other dogs away), and gave him a spa treatment. She got half a dog off of him worth of hair and he looks great! And so patient and abiding. Yukon has not had one accident in the house, at his fosters, and both there and here, appropriately met and greeted other dogs. He fit right in to the Huntington Beach group of dogs and now, the dogs of the Central Coast chapter. Nonplussed! He's a loving, happy, and balanced dog.
