About Dixie

Cavalier / Tibetan Terrier
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Whenever a sweet and engaging Cavalier or Terrier mix gets into an urgent situation, Farfel's rescuers like to help. We find that dogs of these breed mixes are very loving, super- smart (considered by many to be among the most intelligent and fun-loving mixes available today) and make loyal and very sweet family companions. Dixie will fit very well into a household and make an excellent best friend for all age groups as well as gentle and fun-loving canines. Dixie is a cuddly and very sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a bit of Terrier in the mix. The vets believe Dixie to be about 18 months old and 19 lbs. Dixie is the perfect age and weight for fun hikes and backyard play..and then at day's end, a perfect size to cuddle close all night long). Dixie (once comfortable in her environment) is very puppyish in her enthusiasm for all people that are kind to her. She has a love of life and positive attitude that warms the heart. After all, his very deserving girl has never had a loving and nurturing family to call her own. She has been a victim of circumstance in her life...Farfel's Rescue is committed to changing this circumstance for this dog that has so much to offer a committed family. Rescue dogs can initially be a bit shy or nervous..this is expected in light of the very long transports and stresses of rehoming. When an adopting family is sensitive to the challenges of change and acclimation for these dog's, the transition is far easier. A home with a very loving and nurturing family that understands that blossoming takes time would be perfect. Socialization, pure love and belly rubs is a gift to a dog that is undergoing a life change. Given the time and space, these dogs shine. Dixie is one of these pups that is a blank slate just waiting for the commitment of a great family. Her love will know no bounds as she becomes a best friend and very loyal companion. Group training classes with a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Dixie and her family (as it does every dog and their people). Together they will learn the skills to have Dixie be a companion that is well-behaved when out in the world with her people. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of force-free trainers in your area. We envision active, dog-loving retirees as a great home for our sweet girl. She would be thrilled with the time spent and pure love this age group offers. Alice would also do great with a younger family that works either part-time or from home to love this wonderful dog up throughout the day. Dixie enjoys kids as great playmates and night time snugglers (a bit older is desirable so no tail-pulling or awkward handling occurs) and would thrive with the fun and special kind of nurturing that a family provides. We feel that Dixie is too sensitive to spend long hours alone while her family works full-time outside of the home unless special arrangements with doggie daycare or a dog walker are made. Dixie has a beautiful coat (with the cutest markings ever!) that is currently shelter- sad. With a commitment to sudsy baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is a great lifelong supplement for coat care as well as longevity) Dixie's coat will be very healthy and gorgeous with its copper-colored markings against the purest of white hair. Dixie is in a foster home in Boulder. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet pup...if interested in this adorable and very cuddly and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. PLEASE NOTE: If you're truly interested in adopting Dixie, please be sure to submit our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most circumstances, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks so much for choosing rescue.
