However, that person realized after 5 months that they really didn't have time for this pup so they gave her to a friend, who in turn gave to a friend, and in turn gave to one of our supporters and friends who turned her over to us to see why this pup could not stay in a home. We have learned a lot about her. She was very nervous upon intake and so was barking constantly at everything. She was also not house trained at all so had no idea it was bad to pee on the floor. She knew very little about how to behave when people came over or when meeting new dogs or anything so she was a ball of nerves that would turn into a barking frenzy with anything new. She has learned over the time being with us that that is not acceptable though and she has been meeting people who come out to meet other dogs so she is doing much better. She does have it in her personality though to be worried so she really needs an adopter who can take her out and about for training and socialization so she can build her confidence. We do think a few things contributed to this- one she was crated extensively as a puppy with outings just to potty, very little interaction with strangers as a youngsters, and then of course switching hands so much in a short period of time. Also instead of correction people tended to try and comfort her and hold her when she was acting out and in a barking frenzy so they to some degree encouraged that behavior. We have corrected it but her adopter will need to also continue discouraging that behavior so she does not revert. Temperament- Very playful and sweet. Very loving with those she loves. Still very nervous though with new situations or when someone stoops down to pick her up. Energy Level- Typical high puppy energy. Dogs/Cats- She can be a pest to smaller, older dogs. But she does great with young dogs her size and bigger dogs. However, if the bigger dogs get too rambunctious she gets scared and will scream and run back to me. Housetrained- We are working on this. She is crate trained and learning to go out but she is still having accidents. It is as though she doesn't know it is not allowed to pee in the house. Thankfully we have tile. She is crate trained though for when we can't watch her. This girl is absolutely adorable and so sweet. She is sill so young so is learning very quickly how wonderful life can be. She does need a special home with lots of time for socialization and training to build her confidence but she is truly a little gem who will mature into a perfect companion. Adoption fee $300 includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations (4 for puppies), deworming, microchip, rabies, collar and leash, training information, and all the support you need.
