PLEASE DO NOT USE THE RESCUE ME CONTACT LINK! Thank you. Please visit our website and submit an application prior to emailing for information. www.odbtr.org. We will NOT respond to inquiries unless we have an application on file. I'm sorry, but we don't have time to reply to 'is the dog available'. If the dog is posted, they are available. We do not charge an application fee like many Boston rescues. Ours is free and it helps us use our time more efficiently. Give us the time it takes you to submit an app and we'll give you our full attention. Rupert is a darling, very energetic bouncy boy who is 3 years old and weighs 20 pounds. Rupert spent two years with a family that tried very hard to make it work but one of their dogs and Rupert would fight. Rupert doesn't seem to start it, but it can look like he is since he's a talker and growls when he plays. Their larger dog hurt Rupert a few times, once breaking one of his years. That ear flops as you can see in his photos. Rupert is fearful of strangers, men more than women. We think in his first home there was a man who was unkind to him. We know the woman left because of violence and she gave Rupert to the family we got him from. They tried to make it work but Rupert and one of their other 3 dogs didn't get along. They didn't fight all the time, but they did get in to it too often to keep Rupert. When Rupert's ear broke, the family knew that one of them had to leave their home. Since Rupert was younger and the other dog had been their boy his whole life, they decided to let Rupert come to us. Since Rupert can be sometimes uneasy around men, a calm and assertive male leader will help him to overcome any trust issues he's had from his past. Even though he's a turbo boy, he still loves to snuggle and craves all the love and attention he can get. Rupert will need some training to wean him off bad habits, like begging, barking and jumping. His foster mom has been working with him to improve those habits. With the right person or family and some time and extra patience, he will repay you with unconditional love and hugs. Rupert will do best in a home with a mellow non-alpha female dog. If he feels threatened, he will defend himself. Rupert is a bit of a wild child so he must have a fenced yard. His ideal home would have people who are calm, confident leaders; he needs that reassurance to feel safe. Rupert will need time in a new home to adjust to the people and other animals. He is good with men once he trusts them, but is good with most women right away. Rupert is a good boy; he just needs a chance in the right good home
