About Pierre

We rescued Pierre in 2011. He was found by friends of ours wandering the streets of downtown Columbus, Ohio, and he decided to follow them home. They kept him for a few weeks while they tried to locate his owners but had no luck. They had 2 other dogs and Pierre just did not fit into their family dynamic so they started asking for someone to adopt him. We had another dog at the time who was very old and we thought a companion might do him some good so we went to meet Pierre. We ended up bringing him home that same day. We are still unsure as to why he was left behind by his previous owners. He is a really good dog. He is potty trained, listens when you call him and he is loyal. We estimate that he is about 13 years old, give or take a year or two. The only unfortunate thing about his personality/temperament is that he does not tolerate larger dogs well. He will growl, show his teeth and even run after another dog, but he will always stop short of attacking. We have never had an incident where he attacked another dog or human for that matter. He will, however, growl and bark at newcomers who come into the house because he is a very protective type of dog (he still barks at my husband when he gets home from work) but warms up quickly. We have never seen him act negatively to cats. We have two small children (2 and 4) and he pretty much leaves them alone unless they are eating. He does like to quietly beg for food but we try to keep the table scraps to a minimum. If my children do, for some reason, start to bother him he usually goes into another room. We are re-homing Pierre due to my Son's allergies to him. We have tried to make it work but unfortunately it has come down to this. Please message me with any questions you may have.
