About Winnie

Winnie is beautiful, graceful, loving, devoted and loyal dog. We love her dearly and the decision to rehome her is both painful and difficult for us. We adopted her from the Lexington Humane Society in KY in2017, believing that she was a 'hound mix'. We soon learned that she is Black Mouth Cur, a southern hunting dog that was bred to find/kill food for his/her humans. Black Mouth Curs need lots of exercise or room to run and roam. A true and successful hunter, Winnie will go after any small, furry animal, including cats. We have had to keep our cat safe from Winnie since we adopted her. For us, the danger to our cat has become too great and we feel it is not fair to our cat, to Winnie and to us to continue living under these circumstances. Winnie has undergone training with two professional trainers. She has many commands including sit, place, down, heel and let's go. What we cannot seem to break is her constant desire to hunt our cat. We are hoping to place Winnie with a loving family that has a farm or acreage or a large fenced yard, quality time to spend with her and no cats.
