About Sophia and Buddy

Bonded pair. Meet Buddy(2 y/o)and Sophia(6 y/o)a sweet mother and son bonded dachshund pair. They came to ResPet Colorado for a two week stay while their family was in crisis. This was 6 months ago. Sophia and Buddy loved the family so much and struggled with being away from them. Despite the promises to come get them, the family never came back, and they need a permanent home. These two have been through a lot and for this reason we are hoping for a very patient adopter who understands they have been traumatized after being abandoned. They don't do well with other dogs/cats but they are getting better. They would do best with a person who doesn't necessarily go on a lot of walks but has a backyard bc they love to chase each other to their (and your) hearts delight. They are very smart and can jump really high despite their small stature. This means that if you leave they would need to be crated bc they are escape artists and can get into things like trash/on the counter/chew. We have reason to believe that they were given very little food and possibly starved while with their previous owners. If you are home they are happy, and nothing makes them happier than cuddling with you. They are charmers and quite funny to watch together. We are hoping to adopt them together as Sophia howls and is despondent when away from her son. These two are not lost causes, and with their intelligence and some stability they could be top notch.
