We are a foster-based rescue organization with foster homes throughout the state of Florida. If interested in meeting one of our wonderful adoptable dogs, please fill out an application at ewenityfarmsbch.com . Information on adoption donation amounts and our process can also be found at this site. Please note any needs of the dog specifically listed below. Tom is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families. Tom is currently fostered in St. Pete, FL (Pinellas County). Have you always wanted a black lab but didn't want a dog that big? Tom is the perfect 'mini-lab' - all that wonderful lab disposition and cuteness and only about half the size at 40 pounds! People constantly think he's a lab puppy because he looks so much like one. He is a gentle lab mix of approximately 1 year old. He just graduated from basic obedience, so knows some basic commands (down, stay, wait, free, come and leave it) but still needs some work and is very motivated by treats. He is smart, attentive and loves to please. He has never had an accident in the house or his crate and does well overnight in the crate. He hasn't entirely learned to ask to go out yet though. He is pretty good on a leash (loves walks and doesn't pull much), crate trained, affectionate and loves to be close by. He is a submissive boy who loves other dogs and doesn't have an aggressive bone in his body. He made friends with all the dogs in training class. He doesn't bark much except when he gets excited sometimes around other dogs or if a stranger comes into the yard. Being a lab and still a big puppy, he can be a little jumpy on his hind legs when he meets new people or dogs, but is pretty gentle about it. He hasn't quite figured toys out but loves to watch people squeak toys for him and likes to carry around and chew gently on soft toys. Otherwise he does not chew at all, though will occasionally pick up an item from the house and put it in his nest (bed). He doesn't seem interested in squirrels or other animals on walks but is oddly interested in wading birds like ibises and herons. His only quirks are that he gets very car sick and is known to peruse the cat litter buffet in his foster home. He does okay with cats but can charge at them at times wanting to play or if he's jealous they are getting attention. He will probably do well in a home with a cat box that can be secured from him. Except for in the car, he isn't anxious at all and doesn't seem afraid of loud noises or thunderstorms. He hasn't met many kids but will likely be wonderful with them. This sweet mellow boy will do best with people who have a yard for him to play in or can exercise him regularly but aren't interested in taking him in the car. Tom is housebroken, crate trained, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm-free.
