About Journey

Journey is a handsome young boy that has so much personality and love bottled up inside. He is an approximately 10-month-old Shepherd/Lab mix and is a sturdy boy at 50 lbs. His gorgeous black face mask and eyeliner are perfect complements to his light coat. Bonus: His short coat is very low maintenance. Journey will need an experienced owner or someone who can give him the time he needs to feel safe and comfortable with you. He really is a huge love bug that LOVES to give kisses and get belly rubs, but he needs to get to know you first. Once he knows you and trusts you, he will love you with every fiber of his being. He is a very exuberant boy in his affection and loves to play with you or be nearby. He is an extremely smart boy and so very eager to please. Getting to know Journey will require a slow approach and introduction. He hides his fear and stress with bravado, but he is extremely food motivated, so high value food or treats like savory rotisserie chicken or (plain) fast food hamburgers are great tools to break the ice with him. He warms up to women and children quicker than men. He would do better with bigger or older kids though �'�| as once he lets his guard down he may accidently knock little kids down with his exuberance. He LOVES to chew on antlers, bully sticks and Nyla bones �'�| or any 'tough' toy. In the mornings or whenever he is waking up from a nap, he likes to stretch and make this adorable little Chewbacca sound-so cute! After he eats his breakfast, he likes to chase it down with some of mine �'�| banana bits, strawberry bites and blueberries. Keeping this guy active and on the move will be key. He does great in the car so road trips to find fun and adventure are no problem for him. He is dog friendly with other dog-friendly dogs and with proper introduction. He does not like cats �'�| or perhaps he likes cats too much if you know what I mean. We are working hard on our house training. He knows to go to the door, but he just sits there and doesn't make any noise. So if I'm busy and don't see him, he'll find a spot to take care of business. So, it's my fault when he does have the rare accident. He does okay in the crate and will go in excitedly when he knows he will get a cheese stick! He will whine when he needs to go potty �'�| and he has NEVER gone potty in his crate. He is neutered, microchipped and current on all of his age appropriate vaccinations and monthly preventives.
