About Dulcie

Flat-Coated Retriever / Lab
Age: Young Puppy
Sex: Female

Hello! My name is Dulcie...and boy do I live up to my name meaning 'sweet.' I'm a 14 week old lab mix. I am a very timid girl who takes some time to warm up to people. You'll have to be patient with me and let me warm up on my terms but I promise it will be worth it! Kids make me a littler nervous (why do they have to move so quickly?) but I'm quite the cuddle bug when you pick me up and snuggle me. I lack some confidence but really find some courage following the lead of other dogs. I hope you have another dog so they can teach me the ropes! I also really love my foster cat brother but I'm unsure how to play with him even when he wants to. I've been working on crate training and using a bell when I need to go outside. I'm very smart and pick up on commands quickly especially if chicken is involved. I currently know 'sit', 'leave it', 'gentle' (for taking treats), 'fetch', and can 'go potty' on command outside. I would definitely benefit with a home that has a very confident dog and possibly a fence since I can be a little skittish. I love to go on walks but I'm still working on walking on a leash (I'd rather walk myself). At night I will happily cuddle on the couch for a long snuggle before going in my crate to go to sleep with a soft blanket or toy. If you have time, patience, another dog, and love to snuggle I could be your perfect pal! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a 'teen' or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email [email protected] for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
