About LEILA

Hello, I am pleased to introduce to you Miss Leila,,, Miss Leila came to us all the way from Knoxville TN. Recently her human dad passed away of a heart failure, a nice neighbor took care of Leila until she was able to reach his family. None of her family wanted her so they told her to just bring her to the high kill shelter in TN. The shelter then reached out for help which is how she came to Vermont to be with Shonio's Safe Haven Inc. Leila's dad was deaf so her world has been quiet. She is a senior we are guessing her age to be 9 or 10 and up. When she came to Vermont she weighed only 6 pounds; however, since being here she really is enjoying her home cooked meals along with puppy chow dry food to put a little meat on her skinny body. She loves to sit with her human however has not really sat on my lap but enjoys sitting next to me and being petted. We are working on pee pad training at this time. While she was staying at a friends home, she was with a young child and she did okay with him until he became loud and active as most children are and then she would hide. The home has a cat and she did well with the family cat. She is currently with two young dogs and is doing very well although we have made her a spot to hide in in the event the puppies became to much during the day then she has a spot to go to and just rest while they play. We have removed some hair matts from her rear end and she really isnt a big fan of being brushed however if you pick her up and brush her quickly which is all she really needs she is fine. We have giving her a bath and she did well with the bath although again not a big fan of a bath but if you get her in there and out quickly before she lets you know this is not her favorite pass time all is good. She truly will make someone a super sweet companion who is looking for a small dog just to tag along behind you and sit with you.
