About Aspen

Adoption Fee: $150
German Shepherd mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Please read entire description. Aspen's adoption fee is $150. Please complete an application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting. We are requiring Aspen to have a solidly constructed fence and a dog buddy in the home. Meet Aspen! She is looking for a home to call her own. She has been in a foster home for several months learning how to 'dog.' Aspen came into the system after bring found as a stray. Our wonderful local animal control officers had to dig her out of a hole that she burrowed in from being so terrified of being loose out in the real world. She spent some time at Almost Home before transferring to Pawswap. In the meantime, she has worked with Stepping Stones and is now working with Pawsitive Pets. She is learning all kinds of new things and has really transformed into a wonderful dog with the help of her loving foster family. We think Aspen is around 2 years old and is possibly a German Shepherd/Mastiff mix. She weighs about 80 pounds. Aspen is thriving around other dogs and likely will need to share her home with another dog. She does have issues with sharing toys, although she is great with sharing space, water dishes, and attention. While at Stepping Stones, she was evaluated with all different sizes of dogs and did well there. Cats and squirrels are a little too interesting so we think a home without cats or small animals is best. She is house trained, crate trained, and is left out unsupervised when her fosters are outside or in a different room and is very trustworthy. She is still building her confidence and gets nervous around new sounds or places. She is very smart and an escape artist so a privacy fence is a must. She is very interested in other dogs on leash and will need work to continue working on this. Aspen takes a bit of time to warm up to new people, but eventually does. She has had minimal experience with young children. We feel older children would be best. Aspen is spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, and microchipped. If interested, please complete an adoption application on our website at www.pawswapofgreaterlafayette.com/adopting.
