Miss Denali was found in Bakersfield earlier this month and when the shelter reached out for help, the Rescue Lady drove all the way out to the Kern County shelter in Mojave to pick her up! Denali is only around 5 yrs old, but she's in poor shape and we hope to turn that around. She's deaf, severely obese, may have some vision impairment, and she has cancer :'( She's missing a lot of fur and her skin is literally torn up with a horrible bacterial infection that's being treated with antibiotics and medicated baths, and a cone of shame. Her lymph nodes are swollen and immune system compromised, and she broke with kennel cough the day after she arrived in her foster home. Even though she must feel so awful all the time, she's a total champ. Poor, sweet girl was obviously not well cared for, but she's in the best of foster homes now and we can't wait to see how she transforms! (Soon to be) Lil D had her first vet visit yesterday and she was such a good girl. She needs to lose weight before going under anesthesia for spay, dental, and mass removal/biopsy. As always, we will do anything and everything we can for this darling babe, and hopefully we'll get some good news from her tests and biopsies. When we first got her out of the shelter, we thought she might be a compassion foster - a Forever Foster dog. But now we're hopeful that we can make this special girl healthy enough to find a special forever home of her own! In the meantime, Sweet D's specialized food and medical costs are already at $1,000.
