Special Needs: Maggie has had sarcoptic mange. This is NOT contagious. She is responding well to treatment and her skin is healing. What kind of home would be best for me: Maggie is first and foremost looking for a home that will love and cherish her for the rest of her life. She would love a family that will take her on adventures and play with her in a fenced back yard. Maggie will be happy with other pets in the home or as an only dog. What is my personality like: The best word to describe Maggie is love. There is not a staff member or volunteer that doesn't fall in love with this girl the moment they meet her! Maggie found her way to our rescue on her own. She was in deplorable physical condition and literally starving. She has absolutely no reason to trust humans. Yet she does. Completely. Since the moment Maggie arrived she has captivated everyone she's met. She has such a sweet and gentle soul it's impossible not to love her. Maggie is equal parts laid back and playful. She loves to romp and play then runs back for snuggles. She is great with animals of all sizes and would be wonderful with children. Maggie is learning what it means to be a pet. She walked okay on the leash but was in no hurry at all. She is a 'stop to smell the roses' kind of girl. She is hesitant about entering new buildings and cars are entirely unfamiliar. We don't blame her. Maggie knows how to sit and give shakes. She loves any type of treats. and takes them gentle. She is not a fluffy poodle but she has a pair of eyes that will stare into your soul with a wonderful personality to go along with it! We think she is about a year old so have assigned a birthdate of 4/17/18. We believe that sweet Maggie knew she was safe when she curled up in front of the concrete angel that protects Dreamweaver Farms. Her forever family will cherish and shelter her in the same way! House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
