Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets, -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day OR have another canine companion already in the home, -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) What is my personality like: With my long legs and independent personality, I belong on the runway! Like a true supermodel, I am like to show off and I'm graceful doing it. I can be shy and I prefer to explore the world around me at my own pace. I love to run and play in the field with my brother, Legs. We are both learning to play fetch. I can be skittish when new people try to reach for me, but if you bribe me with treats, I'll be your best friend. How do I act when I first meet new people: I am very shy! With legs like these, I am built for speed and I can run very quickly and will do so if someone reaches for me too fast. I warm up to people, but I need time and patience. I have grown up in an animal shelter so I need some life experience with humans that isn't in a group environment. I love treats, and will take them gently from you. With the right family, I will learn to trust. Tips and Tidbits: The people here think my brothers and I were born on or around. 03/21/2019. We are still all puppy and proud of it! I am not a fan of crates! I will bark until you let me out. I just want to be with my buddies! I can CLIMB. While all my siblings are in the playpen, I will climb out and run around them, showing off my independence and freedom. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
